SCOUTING AT ITS BEST
URMSTON & DISTRICT SCOUT COUNCIL
NETWORK SCOUTING in Urmston & District
What is the Scout Network?

Scout Network is the fifth and last development section of scouting in the UK and is for Scouts who are aged 18-25. The Network is County based but managed and hosted by Districts.
Greater Manchester West (G.M.W.) Scout Networks’ mascot is the Turkey, therefore giving us the name ‘The Turkey Network’. The opportunities in this section are endless.

The Scout Network Unit Balanced Programme.

Like the younger youth sections, the Scout Network has its own development areas, which are: International, Community and Self Development. Primarily there are no ‘Leaders’ in Network and it therefore asks the members to take an active role in their own development, but there is a Network Leader who ensures that a programme runs and he/she aids in the link between Explorer Scouts and the Scout Network.
Scout Network members are able to achieve Awards which include the Diamond Chief Scout Award and the Queen’s Scout Award. Also there are the explorer belt and three partnership awards, as well as the many national awarding bodies you are able to access through scouting- all you have to do is ask. The essential element to all these awards is that you are signed up and invested into the Scout Network.
Scouts join the Network for two main reasons, either for the social aspect, away from being a leader or other hectic life commitments, or to carry on their scouting  by achieving awards and following the programme. Should you know someone, or you yourself want to join the G.M.W.'s, Urmston Scout Network do get in touch:
