CUB SCOUTING in Urmston & District
Who are Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts are young people between the ages of eight and ten and a half years old. They usually meet at a Pack meeting and work in small groups called Sixes. There will be other activities such as outings, visits and camps for them to enjoy.

The Cub Scout Pack.

The Cub Scout Pack normally comprises a maximum of 36 Cub Scouts and a team of adults. The team is likely to include some Cub Scout leaders who are
members of the Explorer Scout Section. Some parents help out on a rotor basis.

The Cub Scout Balanced Programme.

The Cub Scout Balanced Programme is designed to meet the needs of the individual whilst providing fun and enjoyment to the Pack as a whole. A variety of  activities covering the ‘Programme Zones’ over a period of time will enable the Cub Scouts to gain progress and activity badges which they will wear on their uniforms. Each award is gained by best personal effort and achievement. The highest award in the Cub Scouts is the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. The ‘Moving On Award’ will ensure a smooth
transition to the Scout Troop at the age of ten to ten and a half years.

Camps and Pack Holidays

Leaders have to meet special training obligations before they are able to take Cub Scouts away on what is probably the highlight and most memorable part of the Pack’s year where they have the opportunity of going away together for a weekend or longer.

Adult Training is available in a variety of ways to meet specific training needs.
